Internships at Colorado Humanities

We are currently accepting resumes for winter 2017 interns, which will run from  September to May. This is a great opportunity for students, recent graduates and anyone interested in nonprofit work and the humanities.

Internships generally run for a minimum of 4 months and average a minimum 10 hours per week during office hours (Monday-Friday, 9-5:00 pm)  In exchange for your hard work, you’ll learn some valuable skills to use in your life and to include on your resume.

Fundraising and Development Intern

(one person per term)

The fundraising and development intern will assist the Development Director with a variety of tasks, including grants research and proposal writing, assisting with direct mail projects, managing the production of acknowledgement letters, performing prospect research, updating and organizing donor records, and grant calendars and assisting in any event planning.

Qualifications and Skills: experience writing grant proposals, excellent writing and communication skills, ability to work with minimal direction under deadlines, a sense of humor and an enthusiasm for fundraising and the humanities.



Media Intern

(one person per term)

Can’t get enough of Facebook?  This intern will manage and update all of CH’s social media, as well as handle technical aspects of editing and embedding videos, podcasts, blogs and other web/tech stuff.

Qualifications and Skills:


  • Creating simple, 30-secoond videos that offer glimpses into CH programs and events
  • Implementing,  maintaining and updating CH’s Twitter, Facebook, Flickr, and YouTube channel sites.
  • Audio recording  and video recording at CH events, creating and posting as podcasts.
  • Representing CH in a lively, creative, entertaining and professional manner in all written content.
  • Writing a blog.
  • Developing and initiating new ways to spread the word through various social media.

Necessary Qualities :

  • ENTHUSIASM, willingness to work on a variety of projects, technically savvy, creative and imaginative, ability to work independently with minimal direction and in a team environment, attention to detail, creating excellent products and keeping a sense of humor.

Historic Sites Intern for the Colorado Encyclopedia

(one person per term)

The Historic Sites Intern for the Colorado Encyclopedia will be responsible for assisting with the creation of marketing cards based on historic and archaeological sites included in the Encyclopedia.  As part of this project, the intern will have opportunities to practice research and develop marketing and publication production skills.  The intern will be supervised by the Director of Programs and Center for the Book at Colorado Humanities and will work closely with the Historic Sites Editorial Assistant for the Colorado EncyclopediaPlease click here for a complete job description.
