Overground Railroad Author Event

Monday evening, January 27, Colorado Humanities and friends enjoyed meeting Candacy Taylor, author of Overground Railroad. The event was hosted by author Adrian Miller at the Blair-Caldwell African American Research Library. We had a great time learning from a fascinating scholar about the challenges of researching African-American history.

Ms. Taylor’s book is the first to explore the historical role and residual impact of the Green Book, a travel guide for black motorists. Overground Railroad celebrates the stories of those who put their names in the book and stood up against segregation. It shows the history of the Green Book, how we arrived at our present historical moment, and how far we still have to go when it comes to race relations in America.

Copies of Ms. Taylor’s book were available for sale, with proceeds benefiting Colorado Humanities. We still have some copies left! You may purchase them from our online store at $5 off of the book price.
