SUMMARY:Poetry Is For Everyone
DESCRIPTION:Poetry is often associated strictly with rhyming and meter\, but its power extends far beyond those traditional structures.  In this workshop\, we will explore how poetry serves as a narrative medium\, utilizing intentional language\, vivid imagery\, and prose-like elements to weave compelling stories.  Participants will examine diverse examples of how poets use narration as a catalyst for storytelling\, expanding the boundaries of the craft to create deeply resonant narrative works. \nThis workshop will be facilitated by the 11th Poet Laureate for Colorado (2026–2027)\, Crisosto Apache.

SUMMARY:Art Opening: Space Cowboy
DESCRIPTION:Space Cowboy is landing in Ridgway for a month of art\, poetry\, storytelling\, and community programming as part of its four-year journey through Colorado’s Creative Districts. Created by Colorado artists Emilie Odeile and Ken Chapin of Dundee & Lee\, the exhibition centers on a 10-foot-tall fiber rocket topped with a cowboy hat and Mission Control consoles that gather images\, voices\, stories\, and discoveries as Space Cowboy travels from community to community. Stick around for an artist talk and a poetry reading by Crisosto Apache. \nCome see the rocket\, meet the people behind the project\, take part in the October programming\, and help Ridgway add its chapter to Space Cowboy’s journey across Colorado. \nLearn more at spacecowboycolorado.com.
