SUMMARY:Fort Lewis College Life-Long Learning Program: Firing Towards the Future: Steam Locomotive TechnologyHistory Live Durango
DESCRIPTION:Retired nuclear engineer George Niederauer’s interest in steam locomotion is a family tradition. It began five generations ago and burns brightly still. After leaving the Los Alamos National Laboratory in 2001\, Niederauer moved to Durango and rekindled his interest in trains. He helped restore Locomotive 315 and served as president of the Durango Railroad Historical Society for 14 years. “After a career in 20th-century nuclear power\, I enjoy working with 19th-century coal-fired steam locomotives – steam at a much lower pressure.” \n \n  \nThis will be an online program. For details on how to participate please contact: \nDarcy Poletti Harp \ndarcy@prlibrary.org \n970-884-2222 ext. 522
