One Woman, One Vote – Colorado Springs

Come meet Jeannette Rankin as portrayed by historic interpreter and scholar Mary Jane Bradbury! This living history presentation will focus on Rankin’s rise to political prominence during the volatile political climate of the last years of the suffrage fight and her courage as a pioneering woman politician. Performances are followed with a question and answer time with Jeannette Rankin and then with Mary Jane Bradbury.

Jeannette Rankin was the first woman elected to the U.S. Congress. A suffragist, humanitarian, and advocate for social reform, Rankin was the only member of Congress to vote against U.S. entry into both world wars. Hear in her own words her views on equality and government reform.
