Silverton Gold Film Screening
History Live Durango

The Center of Southwest Studies will virtually host documentary filmmaker Sean Owen, who will present a screening of his film Silverton Gold. The film explores the town’s transition from mining to tourism/recreation, and the tension between development and preservation. Owen interviewed over 40 locals and worked with the San Juan County Historical Society in making the 55-minute film. Owen most recently directed and produced Tribal Radio about the KSUT tribal radio station in Ignacio, Colorado, which won Best Native Film at the Santa Fe Film Festival in 2018. [1]
