DESCRIPTION:Join us in partnership with Stories on Stage on Sunday\, May 4 at 2 p.m. for “Local Literary Lights” at Su Teatro Cultural and Performing Arts Center. “Local Literary Lights” features 2020 Colorado Book Award winner Emily Wortman-Wunder\, 2024 Colorado Book Award finalist Ramona Ausubel\, and 2016 winner and current finalist in Novel Edward Hamlin. Thanks to the generosity of Stories on Stage\, Colorado Humanities will be accepting donations at this event to help offset the loss of our NEH operating grant. This is a great opportunity to come together in support of literature and the humanities in Colorado. Stay after the show for a milk and cookies reception!

DESCRIPTION:Colorado Humanities is thrilled to partner with Stories on Stage for “Mixed Company” on Sunday\, November 10 at 2 p.m. at Su Teatro Cultural and Performing Arts Center. \nJenny Shank is an accomplished author\, teacher\, and journalist who grew up in Denver\, Colorado. She earned degrees from the University of Notre Dame and the University of Colorado. Her notable works include the short story collection Mixed Company\, which won the George Garrett Fiction Prize and the Colorado Book Award in 2023\, and her novel The Ringer\, which won the High Plains Book Award. Shank’s writing has appeared in prestigious publications such as The Atlantic\, The Guardian\, and The Washington Post. She teaches creative writing at the Mile High MFA program at Regis University in Denver and lives in Boulder\, Colorado with her family. \nNoelia Antweiler\, MacKenzie Beyer\, and Anne Marie Nest perform “Casa del Rey” – Don’t judge a book by its cover;”La Sexy Cana” – What happens when you mentor someone who doesn’t want to be mentored? and “Local Honey” – A couple help an adopted child navigate the world\, from Jenny Shank’s short story collection “Mixed Company”. \nJoin us for an after-show discussion and book signing with Jenny Shank and the free milk and cookies reception with the cast! \n“Mixed Company” is sponsored in part by the Citizens of the Scientific and Cultural District (SCFD)\, Colorado Creative Industries\, Bonfils Stanton Foundation\, Boulder County Arts Alliance and The Denver Post. \nCelebrating their 24nd Season\, Stories on Stage presents renowned actors performing dynamic and entertaining short stories. \nTickets are $26 and are available at www.storiesonstage.org or by calling 303-494-0523.
