Durango History Live!

“Chautauqua” takes its name from the 18th and 19th century tent gatherings that brought together citizens to engage in thoughtful discourse on a variety of topics. An annual two-day program of living history portrayals that inspire middle and high school and adult audiences to engage in thoughtful discourse with presenters in and out of character. In addition to Colorado Humanities, sponsorship is provided by the Durango Herald and the Durango Arts Center.

Wednesday, September 11 – Thursday, September 12, 2019. Confirmed characters: Nikola Tesla (Doug Mishler) and Eleanor Roosevelt (Susan Marie Frontczak) at the Durango Arts Center, with additional daytime programs throughout the week in schools or with select groups of potential friends for the program. Partners include The Durango Herald and The Life-Long Learning Series at Fort Lewis College.
